Davao Writers Workshop 2010 (May 3- 7, 2010)

So I decided to turn my blog into an album, haha! Was so busy with work and other summer activities that I haven't been posting pics lately. So, here goes.. the week long Davao Writers Workshop -Summer 2010

We stayed at Lispher Inn -- it's a pretty convenient place, just a few walks and you'll see NCCC mall.. a few walks still, then there goes Penong's.. then McD.. then MTS.. convenient right?

A huge blockbuster on Day 1 -- didn't know there were many guests coming -- UP Min Chancellor, Aida Rivera-Ford, Tita Lacambra-Ayala, and other panelists.

Was more surprised to see my friends from media arts -- cathy and Jade -- who covered the event. Thought this was a surprise academic move haha!

I got my first culture shock from Mrs. Aida Rivera-Ford who, in the middle of our lunch, asked for a copy of Shakespeare's poem & recited in front of everyone. Ai, meh ganun?!

I love how the workshop was set-up.. it's soo like our communication planning classes. Very horizontal communication hahaha! ^_^

And of course, my mentor was there Dr. Anthony Tan who, after all these years, remained very passionate in teaching literature and creative writing. Sparrows come free, come free.=)

Think it was Day 3 when we had our photo opp with all the panelists and writers.

Here's the wacky shot.. believe it or not, Iryne and I faked our jumps. What a jump act ;-)

Ok, so let's be formal, here's the official photo of the fellows and panelists.

Rose among the thorns, hahaah. With fellow writers.. (from left) CU teacher Jay, soon to be teacher (and pro Noynoy) Arvin, moi, UP min poet Fred, and debater Reymond from Tagum.

So, this was the workshop's day to day scene .. fellows and panelists discuss about our writing works for hours

Here's Sir Mac Tiu (between Sir Tim & Dr. Tan), very frank yet effortlessly humorous.

Probably the nicest critic in the world.. Ma'am Jen Quintero. ^_^

On this pic (wearing gray) is Mr. Satur Apoyon, the great and funny Bisaya poet. Loved his balak!

Here's another passionate professor, Mr. Tim Montes -- the person who injected academic confusion in my veins because of his films & short story/poetry readings in class.

All attention to Sir Ricky de Ungria -- the proud filipino, sa salita, sa isip, at sa damit ^_^

Though not into play writing, I love the lecture of film director Arnel Mardoquio. The energy and passion he has for his craft was really inspiring ^_^

Of course, we watched sir Arnel's film, Hunghong sa Yuta.. really nice setting and the storyline was great.

Ok. BREAK.

So perhaps the heaviest coffee drinker in the workshop was Freeda and I. I just love coffee. Wish I could purchase one big coffee machine at home to keep my neurons dancing!

Well, during breaks, couldn't help but apply for more jobs. HAHA! I know I'm a bit workaholic.. just a little biiiit! liiiidt!

I was quoted saying: "I'm very yellow" :-p :-p

Photo opp during a break with Mr. Satur Apoyon. Note: Iryne's grip on Sir Satur. :-p

Over lunch, caught on cam. What can I say, I'm a fan. ^_^

With my former literature professor at MSU-IIT, Mr. Anthony Tan.

Lunch breaks with Iryne.. the girl whose "soul (with wings)" was tucked into a small soap box hehe ;-) love it!

Photo opp with fellow geek, Mr. Dom Cimafranca.. pang Kuya Kim sa trivia ;-)

Again, with poet Iryne, the girl who believes in soul with wings.. great poem!

Workshop night outs.. drinking/videoke! with fellows Jay, Reymond, James, and Erika.

At people's park, touring the guys from CDO.

This is the craziest presentation we made a night before poetry night! Yes it's true.. I did act during the performance. BWAHAHAHA!

This made my poetry night!!! Imagine, drinking @ MTS with Mebuyan on the background. Bisaya na, folk pa!

Graduation DAY! sen with all the panelists.. hands down!!

AND of course! how could I forget this book given by Dr. Tan at the end of the workshop.. from the NObel prize in literature author.. Saul Bellow's Ravelstein.
Cant wait to read over the holidays!

naaaaaaaaaw!!

Really gonna miss the workshop..
